Armin Hari is an award winning photographer and social activist who works in issues of gender, community empowerment, refugees, migrant workers, HIV/AIDS, environment, social transformation, and photo-based advocacy for more than 20 years in all over Indonesia. His photographs convey strong messages on social realities and has been published in regional and international publications such as books, journals, articles, reports, and series of exhibitions. He has been awarded several prestigious international awards including the First Price of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) in 2011-2012.
He co-founded ININNAWA, an NGO aimed to build social change through the young people while still in university. The organization now grows into five NGOs focused in different issues such as rural agriculture (SRP Payo-Payo), agricultural innovations and seeds bank (Tanete Institute (TANI)), traditional market revitalization (Active Society Institute (AcSI)), literacy and education (Katakerja), and local culture (Ininnawa Publisher). He also works for some programs and projects of Indonesian Society for Social Transformation (INSIST), a NGO based in Yogyakarta, in all over Indonesia areas.
